Life After Death:A Romantic Suspense is a very good read for a freshman novel.  This book has everything that you are looking for that the title proclaims that it has.  Your characters are interacting with each other and it seems familiar to you like you know these people or this could possible be your life.  You are reading and then you are laughing at and with some of the characters and talking to others.  Graham did very well in this break out novel and I look forward to reading more of his work.

The Perfect Deception by Lutishia Lovely (The Shady Sister Trilogy Book 2)

the perfect deceptionHeaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned ~ William Congreve

Deception ~ the act of making someone believe something that is not true. How many times have we deceived others whether for good or bad?  How many times have you been deceived?  Did you like how it felt either deceiving or being deceived?  We are back with the second installment of the Shady Sister Trilogy, The Perfect Deception and there is some deception going on in this book.  The question is what will the outcome be?  Who will be successful, the deceiver or the person being deceived?

Jessica Bolton is a beautiful, thriving young woman who any man would want but she only has eyes on one man in particular.  Jessica hasn’t always had the confidence needed to have her choice of men, considering the hard upbringing that she has had but she is getting much better.  Jessica is basically a loner so trusting comes hard to her, until she meets Nathan Carver and everything changes.  Nathan is everything that she could every want in a man plus more and Jessica wants that more, but what is stopping her from getting that.

Nathan Carver is a very successful man who comes from a successful family. Nathan doesn’t let his wealth dictate who he is, he has charm and charisma and is handsome to boot so he has no problem getting women.  When Nathan meets Jessica his world stops spinning.  Nathan feels she is the most beautiful, kind, caring woman that he has ever met and he wants her for his own. Nathan realizes that she has had a hard childhood and she is very private but he wants to be there for her to give her whatever she may need.  Little does Nathan know that Jessica is going to need a little more than he is willing to give.

The Perfect Deception is the perfect follow-up book to The Perfect Affair (book 1 in the series).  It continues with that same intensity and drama from the first installation and the characters give you all of the drama and crazy that you can handle!  I love the detail that Lovely uses in this book, lets you know that either she has done her research or she is a psychopath but either way it makes for intense reading.  The Perfect Deception does not release until November 25, 2014 but it is available for pre-order so that you can be ready to be deceived right along with the rest of us!

Mystical Circles by S.C. Skillman

mystical cirlcesPerception of what life is supposed to hold for you is an illusion to many but in reality the only person that it is supposed to matter to is YOU!  How others deal with how you live your life has nothing to do with you, that is totally their issue.  You just have to continue to live your life to the best of your ability and do what makes you happy.

Juliet is Zoe’s older sister and therefore knows how Zoe should live her life, allegedly .  Zoe has joined a group called The Wheel of Love and she is planning of finding the meaning of life and her new love there, the founder Craig.  Juliet is NOT happy with this revelation and is going to get to the bottom of this and get Zoe straightened out!  Juliet is a freelance reporter so she is going to do an investigative piece on the group hoping that it will get picked up by the BBC and in the meantime try to show Zoe that these people are just a bunch of frauds who are crazy and she should come back to London with her immediately.

Once Juliet gets to the community and meets some of the residents, she quickly discovers that she has more than enough for a great story but also there is a story beneath the story.  There is something going on with the founder Craig and his father Don that she can’t quite put her finger on, another resident Rory has deep issues that Craig is hiding but what and why is he hiding them from everyone?  Is there really something to this Wheel of Love concept or is Zoe just doing this to make Juliet upset?

Mystical Circles is a very interesting story by British Author S.C Skillman.  This is my first time reading any of her works and I am very pleased with the writings.  It takes some getting used to the slight variations between American and British terminology and spelling but it wasn’t enough where it would take away from the story.  The characters flowed well together, the story was strong.  I often found myself upset with Juliet but that is just the sign of a strong writer when she can make you upset with a character.  I enjoyed the novel and I look forward to reading more from Skillman in the future.

Mystical Circles is available through (paperback and Kindle) and (paperback only).

The Heart Has Reasons by Martine Marchand

heart has reasonsFear and love both have some things in common.  Both words have four letters, both are emotions and both frighten us.  It is up to us to decide what we want and how to proceed but one thing is for certain, one emotion will always outweigh the other.

Larissa Santos is a beautiful and quiet woman who doesn’t bother anyone.  She is a hairdresser and a homebody so when she was suddenly stalked by the maintenance man in her complex she was more than terrified.  Larissa knew it was him but couldn’t prove it so essentially she had no protection from him intruding on her personal space.  Taking matters into her own hands, Larissa defended herself when her stalker broke into her apartment into the middle of the night.  Though he was no longer around she never quite felt safe, and she had good reason to feel that way.  Would Larissa ever have peace again or will she continue to live her life on edge?

The Heart Has Reasons is very skillfully written for this freshman author.  The characters are complete and thorough.  They compliment each other without taking away from each other’s story.  You have romance, suspense, drama and you find yourself conflicted on which character to root for and who you should boo.  It is a story of heartbreak with a feel good theme to it because you find yourself romanticizing as you read.  You can see the characters clearly in your mind and you often will have moments where you find yourself smiling.  Though it states that it is over 400 pages you find yourself wanting it never to end,  I enjoyed this story.  In addition, the cover is hot so that lets you know that it is going to be a steamy read.  Congratulations to Martine Marchand on her first novel, I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

The Heart Has Reasons is available for purchase through in kindle edition.
