Men@Play by Janie DeCoster

menplayDedication vs loyalty, is there a difference?  When you are dedicated to someone or something there is nothing you won’t do for them.  When you are loyal, you have a unwavering allegiance to someone or something.  Is there a point when your dedication should be put on hold or once you are loyal you remain loyal no matter what?  Who determines when and at what cost?

Donovan Lattimore is what the older generation would call “a piece of work.”  All through his high school career and after into adulthood he felt like he was entitled and if you didn’t do things his way Donovan was a force to be reckoned with.  It wasn’t until Donovan met a girl named Charlene Hamilton that he was starting to question his actions like never before.  What was it that this girl had that made Donovan attempt to change his way of thinking?  Could the almighty Donovan Lattimore be under the spell of the one person who no one would ever thought that he would be associated with?  Or does he have an agenda for Charlene?

Winston Taylor is the best friend of Donovan.  Some would think that Winston doesn’t have a brain of his own the way he is Donovan’s’ “yes” man.  The one thing that has Winston’s brain all twisted more than Donovan is his girlfriend Dawn.  Dawn is the one person who can break the spell that Donovan has over Winston but when they go head to head over Winston there are casualties in that war, but who will that be?

Men @ Play is a book about relationships.  Some are easy and some are not but the one thing that is consistent is that there is a constant relationship of some sort going on at all times.  The characters interact well and they keep the story flowing very easily.  The book have some twists but it is very easy to follow.  There were some grammatical errors that if you were not paying attention to the story you might get confused (like mixing up names) but all in all this is a good story.  I would suggest to the author if it can be updated and corrected on Amazon, I would do that.  I have read this author before and I know her work and this is not the norm.  It is still a book worthy of purchase.

Men @ Play is available for purchase on Amazon.com in Kindle form.

A Recipe 4 Revenge by David L.

a recipe 4 revengeAs the old saying goes, “revenge is a dish best served cold” which means loosely that if and/or when you exact revenge it is best that there has been some time in between the occurrences.  That way it is believed that the person has forgotten all about their mishaps and is living life smoothly.  What happens when you don’t realize that you want revenge until you are forced into a situation when you can give it?  Do you go through with it or are you content with living your life as it is?

Sasha is a natural-born leader.  Because she is so headstrong this has caused her some problems in her life.  Just like the cat that she is, she lands on her feet.  When Sasha goes to her 10-year high school reunion, the events of that night will set the course for what she believes her life will look like in the future.  Is Sasha still young enough to accept this change or will she rebel against it will her everything.

Letrice is the polar opposite of Sasha.  She is quiet, blends in with the walls, and has an obsessive compulsive disorder.  But if you push Letrice’s buttons just right she is just as fiery as Sasha if not more.  What is it that can bring this person out of her shell or is there anything that can?    Can Letrice be the person that she always knew she was or will she just be this woman who is a stranger to her in every sense of the word?

A Recipe 4 Revenge is a story about a taboo that occurs in todays society that has been around longer than its existence.  Oftentimes in society it is frowned upon for a child to tell on a person in authority or someone who is an adult.  Children belong in their place, seen but not heard.  The result of those types of situations more often spiral into an adulthood of trouble and trauma.  David L. captures what happens when children are scared to talk or lacking trust in adults.  It is a gripping tale of deceit and an attempt to regain trust in someone other than the ones that you believe who are there to  protect you.  You will be conflicted with the story but you will enjoy it.

Tales To Count On by S.R.Mallery

tales to count onWhen you are sitting around just relaxing and you are daydreaming, there are various thoughts going through your head.  Nothing specific just random thoughts to entertain your psyche.  You can go from happy to sad to outraged to mesmerized but your thoughts never stop working.  You may wonder where are all of these thoughts coming from but it really doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t interrupt your quiet time.

Tales To Count On is a book like your thoughts.  It is a collaboration of short stories that don’t ties together they just give you a little insight in to many different areas of your thoughts.  You have comedy, mystery, drama, history, fond memories and many other different stories that while reading them you might be thinking you know which way the story is going but it never does.  It has several stories within the covers and you can jump to any of them without missing something on another story.  You will feel completed after each one so you don’t have to worry about cliffhangers.  I enjoyed the refreshing idea of several shorts in one book, reminded me of my Reader’s Digest days when I first became obsessed with reading.  Great concept, great reading.  I wold gladly read this author again.

Tales To Count On is available for purchase through Amazon.com (Kindle and paperback), BN.com (Nook and paperback) and the author’s website:  www.srmallery.com

The Perfect Revenge is the perfect story to wrap up this trilogy.  This book has so much drama in it that you have no other choice but to sit and read it so you will know what happens next!  While you are reading this book you find yourself in your emotions with the characters and you might even be a little mad a some characters saying what you would do if it was you!  I love writing like this, it makes you want to take some sort of action in this drama just to help and that is a sign of an excellent author.  This completes the Shady Sister Trilogy but I do look forward to reading more from Lovely, she keeps us right in the thick of the story!

The Perfect Revenge is due to be released May 26, 2015 so if you have not read the previous two books in this trilogy, The Perfect Affair and The Perfect Deception you have time to catch up!  This book will be available everywhere books are sold and also in Kindle and Nook formats and at the publisher’s website: WWW.Kensingtonbooks.com.

Out For Blood: The Chosen One Has Come (Chosen One series Book 1) by T.P. Miller

out for bloodEveryone wants to be chosen for something, whether it is a sports team a job promotion or that new love.  What does it take to be chosen?  Do you have to be special, possess some sort of special talent, be the prettiest one in the room or just be yourself?  Whatever we do to be chosen for the most part it is exciting, but what do you do when you don’t want to be chosen?  How should you react?  Is there anything that you can do to change the mind of the one doing the choosing?

Lillian Black was just a little girl when her entire life changed.  Lillian woke up to the sounds of the most life-changing events that she will ever experience as a young five-year old child but that would form her life forever.

Nefertiti and Ramesses are married and madly in love.  They had a daughter, Isis who they loved very much but she was violently taken from them and that is a pain that Nefertiti has never gotten over.  Nef and Ram (as they are called for short) have found out that the one who took their young daughter is the same one who caused Nef much pain when she was a small child.  Now it is a matter of exacting revenge on this person, but that is not an easy task.  The person who has caused Nef so much pain since she was a small girl is a vampire and not only just a vampire but the head vampire of The Underground and he has further plans for Nef.  Is there anything that Nef can do to relieve this pain that he has caused or will he continue to cause her pain until her demise?

Out For Blood is the first book in The Chosen One series and it introduces us to the characters who will build our vampire/werwolf adventure.  These characters are animated and there is plenty of drama.  We have time travel, interaction with Greek Gods, and fights with vampires, werewolves and humans.  The book was a little slow going in the beginning but once it got going it held your attention.  Despite the minor editing errors, this is a good story and I look forward to the next installment to see how this all plays out.

Out For Blood: The Chosen One Has Come is available for purchase through Amazon.com (Kindle edition only) and BN.com (Nook edition only).

Secrets For Revenge by English Ruler

Secrets For RevengeThe saying “Revenge is a dish best served cold” comes from the origins of “Vengeance is more satisfying when exacted in cold blood”.  When you read this short you will totally understand these saying.

Milton Poole is your average teenager, well he is trying to be your average teenager.  Milton lives in a single mother household which is already bad enough because he misses not having a dad around.   In addition to that he is having to deal with being bullied at school.  Milton doesn’t bother anyone so why he is the target of this bully is unknown to him.  Not seeing any relief in sight, Milton figures there is only one thing that he can do to get this bully off of his back and Milton starts making plans.  In the process unfortunately for Milton he is soon going to find out why he is the target and that changes everything for Milton.  How do you process the information that you received and what do you do with it?

Secrets For Revenge is a short story just 16 pages, but they are a powerful 16 pages.  This is dealing with something that children are dealing with so often today and it is something that needs to stop.  Many times stories like this are taboo, authors are scared to touch on these subjects but I commend English Ruler for writing this story!  I enjoyed this story, I enjoy her work and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Secrets For Revenge is available for purchase through Amazon.com in Kindle edition only.

Vengeance Unleashed by Tony Wade

Vengeance UnleashedThe word Vengeance means:  The act of doing something to hurt someone because that person did something to hurt you or someone else.  Most people might never consider getting revenge on someone who has done them wrong but in certain cases as with Sybil it is just something to past the time away.

Sybil Maines is not you run of the mill every day average woman.  Sybil’s training from her previous employer has her a highly skilled killing machine that can not be stopped.  Sybil doesn’t bother anyone that doesn’t deserve to be bothered and she lies low the majority of the time.  It is not until her previous employer seeks her out to complete one last mission with an offer that she couldn’t possible refuse as much as she try to.  Sybil is two things curious and thorough, though she hates to admit it she will do this for herself not for them.  Little does she know that her employer have an ulterior motive also for wanting specifically her for this mission.

Vengeance Unleashed is an exciting book with some good dramatic fight scenes.  It is a mystery that has you guessing about loyalty and hoping that your suspicions are wrong.  This is Tony Wade’s freshman novel and he has a great imagination and this is a great start to the story, I can’t wait to see how it ends.

I see that Vengeance Unleashed is currently out of print so I hope that means by this book being submitted for review that it is going to be re-released soon.  I look forward to reading more from Tony Wade in the future.
