Packing Heat by Zuri Day

Packing heat

Dreams, we all have them but how many of us follow them?  Does following your dreams require that you are the only one to believe in it or should you have dreamcatchers with you?  Because you ARE the only one who believes in your dream does that deter you from having one or does it make you more determined to achieve that dream?

Janice Baker is your average woman.  She has a great heart, family oriented, goal oriented and has a subtle beauty.  Janice has dreams.  While she has been working hard at them she is trying not to get discouraged.  When it looks like everything is beginning to go her way life hits her with another blow.  Will she ever achieve her dreams or should she just give up.

Douglas Carter is a great man.  He comes from a strong loving family.  He is kind, gentle and handsome.  Any woman would be lucky to have him.  How should Douglas feel when he things that he has found “the one” but she keeps shutting him down?  Should he continue his mundane life or should he try for this new and different adventure that life is offering him?

Packing Heat is the second book in the Blue-Collar Lover series by Zuri Day.  Day is introducing new characters and flashes some of the characters from the first series.  This is a romantic book but not mushy.  The characters show that being friends can lead to more if you want it to.  There is no time in this book where you feel like you are missing something, there is always something to keeps you interested in the story line.  It is a great second book to this series and I look forward to more in this series.

Packing Heat is due to be released in March 2016, so you have time to get the first book Driving Heat.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

What My Sister Didn’t Know 2 by Janie DeCoster

what my sister didnt know 2

Love is a word that is thrown around but not taken seriously by some.  Many claim to be in love but at the moment of temptation, everything is out the window.    Relationships are hard enough without one of the parties involved to have their dedication questioned.  How do you deal with current relationships or even new ones when there are trust issues?  Do you build a wall stronger than The Great Wall of China or do you step out on faith, the choice is up to whom?

Lamonte Singletary and his ex-wife Gade are doing the best that they can to raise their son, Brice.  Lamonte is still having pains about the dissolution of his marriage but he is trying to move on with his life.  Gade on the other hand is hanging in limbo trying to figure out what she can do to restore her marriage.   Is there life possible after betrayal or will Gade just live out her days with regret and sadness?

Joe Burrels is trying to be a better person.  Joe recognizes that he has been hurt and is hurting people in the process so that he doesn’t have to feel for anyone.  What is it that can make Joe turn his evil ways around?  Will he finally achieved that relationship that he desires in his subconscious or will Joe continue to have a love ‘em and leave ‘em type of relationship with everyone?

What My Sister Didn’t Know 2 is the continuation of the turmoil that we experienced between Lamonte, Gade, Clay, Saphire and Joe in the first installment.   The drama and intensity continues  while we experience what life is like after breakups.  The characters have a flow that is enjoyable for the reading community but doesn’t make you wait for the connection.  There were small editing  errors but nothing that would take  away from the story.   Once again I have enjoyed DeCosters’ writing and I will continue to look forward to her work.

What My Sister Didn’t Know by Janie DeCoster

what my sister didnt knowFamily and love are two words that are supposed to go hand in hand.  Your family is there for you no matter what and the love is always going to be there.  What happens when those two words are fighting against each other?  Should you just give up and walk away or will you do what is right and forgive and forget?  Family and love are the two best thing that could ever happen to you and two of the worse things that could happen.

Saphire and Gade Michaels are sisters who couldn’t be more different. Saphire is older and more everything.  Saphire is what is called a BBW ~ Big Beautiful Woman and she uses her curves to get whatever she wants.  Some would even add Bold to the mix because she goes for anything and everything that she feels she deserves without even batting an eye.  Gade on the other hand is a beautiful petite woman who is shy and has always lived in the shadow of Saphire.  Gade has never felt good enough and that has always been what helped to keep their sisterly relationship strained.  When Gade finally has the upper hand over Saphire (or so she belives), Saphire decides to help her little sister along.  Little does Gade know Saphire is still using her special charm to disrupt anyone’s life that may get in her way.

What My Sister Didn’t Know is very intense.  Anything that has to deal with any type of family issues is going to be intense but DeCoster took it to another level.  This novel is very well written and the characters have you sitting with your mouth open while reading because of their antics.  You will go through a range of emotions but you will absolutely love this read.   This book is an re-release.  If you didn’t read it the first time around, don’t slip on it a second time!   I wholeheartedly recommend this book and this author to anyone that is looking for a new read in their collection.  Kudos!

What My Sister Didn’t Know is available on Amazon.com (Both Kindle and paperback) and BN.com (Paperback only).

The Power of The P by Syretta Walker

The Power of the PIf you are smart and pay attention, you learn early in life the value of things.  The key is knowing the worth and how to get the most bang for your buck.

Allure Stevens is a very interesting 18-year-old girl.  She is beautiful girl with no lack of friends but like some, she has secrets.  Once her secret is discovered by her father, Allure’s life is set into fast forward!  While being free to explore new adventures, some of those adventures were better left where they were.  It doesn’t take long to realize that everything that glitters ain’t gold.

The Power of The P is a book about life’s choices and how to deal with the decisions that you have made.  It shows you that actions have consequences and you have to deal with them or they will continue to be there waiting for you.  The cast of characters are interesting because of the fact that they all have the same desires but seem to lack the correct motivation to get the desires results.   This book has adult situations in it and it is not for the light-hearted, not a bad book if you can handle it.  Walker has taken everyday life situations and created a book to keep you reading with your mouth wide open.  I look forward to reading more from Walker in the future.

The Power of The P is available on Amazon.com in Kindle edition only.
