Hood Luv by C.J. Hudson

hood luvHOOD ~ your neighborhood, where you are from, the ghetto, your block. Many different meanings for the word but most know what it means to them. It has a sentimental meaning to some but it is home to all.  When you are talking about the hood you are talking about loyalty that extends beyond bloodlines and can’t be crossed!  How do you deal when loyalties are compromised and you violate hood law?

Devin Carter is a 17-year-old student that has many things going for him.  He is tall, chocolate and handsome. He is not the best student but that is not his goal, Devin has friends that admire him, a girlfriend that loves him and a personality that draws anyone else to him.  The one thing that Devin wants the most is the one thing that he is not supposed to have but he is Devin ~ who is going to deny him?

Monica Fisher is a high school teacher who looks better than the majority of those fass-tail students that she is teaching.  Monica is in a loveless marriage and is conflicted about how she is going to proceed with it but what she does know is that she will no longer compromise her happiness for a title or love.

Hood Luv is a novel by the infamous C.J. Hudson who brings Cleveland, OH to the readers so that we can get some insight into his world.  Hudson gives you life when reading his novels with the way that he has the characters interacting with each other and his story line keeps you wanting more!  This story has many things going on with it put it is not hard to keep up, you are totally engrossed in the story and you will find yourself talking to the book!   If you pay attention to what is going on in the book you might be like I was and figured out the ending before we got there, but that is the way I process thing.  The ending will totally blow you away but it should click with you and you say “Yup, I knew that!”   This was a great read and as always I look forward to reading more from Hudson.

Finding Home (originally titled Eye Of The Beholder) by Jackie Weger

finding HomeGUMPTION ~ courage and confidence.  This is a word that is not commonly used in everyday language and some might even say that it is regional but it is a word nonetheless that is for a person with spunk!  Basically people are saying that you are very determined and will achieve what you are attempting if you put your mind to it.  A person can not be swayed and will do whatever it takes to reach their goal.

Phoebe Hawley is a twenty-four year old woman with gumption!  She has set out to be successful so that she can help her family live a better life.  The only issue that Phoebe is facing is the fact that she is toting around two kids with her and she has nowhere to go.  That fact doesn’t stop Phoebe but running into Gage Morgan is a roadblock that she hadn’t anticipated!  When Phoebe and Gage butt heads it is sheer will and Hawley pride that keeps Phoebe on her feet, but for how long will that pride last?

G. G. Morgan is a man of few words but when he gives you those few BOY does he give them to you!  Gage is a widower with one small daughter and the both of them are lost.  They don’t know how to relate towards each other but they need each other.  In walks Phoebe with her ulterior motives and turns the Morgan household on its ear.  Will Gage be able to deal with raising his daughter and this hellcat that has invaded his personal space?  Only time will tell.

Finding Home is a feel good story.  It is one of those stories that you read and wonder what is going to happen next because you know if it was you then you would do it this way.  Weger has found a way to have us so consumed in the story that you are almost taking sides and that is a good thing because these characters need our guidance (according to us readers, lol).  This story is easy to follow and the dialect is regional to the area so some of the phrases used might not be common phrases but you know exactly what the meaning is.  I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I look forward to reading more from this author.  The original name of this novel was Eye Of The Beholder and in reading this story I know exactly what was meant by that.  You will not be disappointed.

Finding Home is available for purchase through Amazon.com (Kindle, paperback and audio editions) and BN.com (Paperback only) .

The Perfect Revenge (The Shady Sisters Trilogy book 3) by Lutishia Lovely

the perfect revengeREVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD ~  That very statement has been used to justify paying someone back for a wrong that you feel that they have done to you.  But how true is that statement?  Revenge and Karma might just go hand in hand when it comes to righting a wrong that you feel has been done.

Jacqueline Tate is BACK!!!  She has been released from prison and is leaving the country for good.  On her way out of the country Jacqueline has to pay a visit to some of the people who she has never forgotten while she was locked up just to make sure that they NEVER forget her either!

Nathan Carver is living his life as best as possible after his near death experience with Jessica.  He has a great job and a wonderfully loving girlfriend Develia, who has been his rock through his trial.  Things are heating up between Nathan and Develia possible wedding bells, but will all of that happen once Nathan has been touched by the angel of death, Jacqueline?

Randall and Sherri Atwater are living a life that they have always dreamed they could live.  Life after Jacqueline is slowly getting back to normal for the Atwaters.  The children are having a normal life again and Randal and Sherri are more in love than ever.  After hearing that Jacqueline had been released from prison they went on high alert, but determination will never stop a person from what they are hell-bent on accomplishing.

Jessica is trying to live a happy life with her husband Vincent and son Dax.  Things are going well for her, they have a great marriage until Jessica is contacted by Jacqueline.  All that has been achieved in her happy life is now at jeopardy due to her sisters influence over her.  How can one woman cause so much despair in the lives of so many?

The Perfect Revenge is the perfect story to wrap up this trilogy.  This book has so much drama in it that you have no other choice but to sit and read it so you will know what happens next!  While you are reading this book you find yourself in your emotions with the characters and you might even be a little mad a some characters saying what you would do if it was you!  I love writing like this, it makes you want to take some sort of action in this drama just to help and that is a sign of an excellent author.  This completes the Shady Sister Trilogy but I do look forward to reading more from Lovely, she keeps us right in the thick of the story!

The Perfect Revenge is due to be released May 26, 2015 so if you have not read the previous two books in this trilogy, The Perfect Affair and The Perfect Deception you have time to catch up!  This book will be available everywhere books are sold and also in Kindle and Nook formats and at the publisher’s website: WWW.Kensingtonbooks.com.
