Secrets & Sins by Eros

Secrets & SinsIn life we make decisions based on many factors and the one thing we learn is that we must deal with the consequences of our actions.  Sometimes the results are favorable but other times the fallout is one that affects not only us but others also.

Lawaun, Brad and JoJo are cousins who have grown up together after finally being reunited and they are thick as thieves.  Brad and JoJo are the muscle and Lawaun is the thinker of the trio, always trying to keep a level head and figure out a way for a better come-up.  When Brad is beaten up and left for dead, the trio can not let that stand.  After delivering revenge on Brad’s assailants, the trio leave and start a new life in New York City.  Lawaun starts thinking of ways to get money to survive and runs into the one man who can make it happen for them, but why settle for mere hundreds of thousands when you can have all of it.  Let the game of cat and mouse begin, who will be chasing whom and in the end who will win ~ the trio from Atlanta for the slickster that they hooked up with in NYC?

Secrets & Sins is an erotic thriller because you can’t have men in a book without them having companionship now can we?  I am labeling it a thriller because it has all the qualities that is needed to keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what is going to happen next.  It shows the growth of this author in maintaining a strong story line and following through to the end.  I enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

Secrets & Sins is available for purchase through in Kindle only.

Over Your Dead Body by David L

over your dead body“Be careful what you pray for” is such a true statement and people throw it around without realizing the consequences surrounding a statement like that.

Preston and Janelle Price have a great life: they both have great jobs, two beautiful children, live in a beautiful four-bedroom house, have been married for ten years and are still madly in love with each other ~ what more could you ask for?  One thing that you are taught is not to let outsiders interfere in your married life, particularly single, bitter, jealous girlfriends because once they do your marriage will NEVER be the same.  Shontell is Janelle’s best friend but she is also feeding Janelle information that is totally wrong about Preston and that causes problems within the marriage.  Is Janelle a strong enough woman to have faith in her husband and her marriage of ten years or will she let doubt slip in and tear apart something that she cherished for so long?

Over Your Dead Body is a drama filled thriller that keeps you shaking your head and talking to the characters.  David L has written a book that could very easily be seen played out on the movie screen with all of the action and twists and turns in the book.  The characters in this book are so busy looking out for themselves that they are not paying attention to the next person and that makes you scream “look behind you!”  I love the intensity of the characters and Janelle is the woman who you are going to love to hate.  Kudos to David L, I look forward to reading more of your work.

Lights, Camera, Mine! by Dominique Wilkins

lights cameraLove is a beautiful thing when SHARED by two people, but when you have one person who doesn’t know how to love correctly it can turn into a bad situation very quickly.

Katrina is a young woman who has love to give.  Katrina absolutely gives love to her daughter Nina and she used to love her daughter’s father Johnny until she realized that love shouldn’t hurt, at least not physically.  When Katrina is hurt in a skating accident she realizes just how much Johnny loves her, or has lack of love for her.  It is not until she is talking with her friend Chris that she realizes that she needs to get out to do better for herself and her daughter.  The question is, will she be strong enough to make it with Johnny or will she go running back to what he has groomed her to be used to all of these years?

Lights, Camera, Mine is a short story but with most shorts they wrap up quickly and are incomplete.  Wilkins has given us characters with a solid foundation and even gives us scripture to verify why they took the actions they took but she could have built so much more.  As I am reading I know she has more of a story to tell.  Wilkins wraps up the story so that we know how it ends but there is more to the meat of this story.

Lights, Camera, Mine! is available for purchase on in Kindle only.

Bloody Chedda by CJ Hudson

bloody cheddaAll is fair in love and war as the saying goes but in the dope game the last man standing is the Kingpin.

Chaz is ready to build his empire to take over Cleveland and he feels like he has everything lined up to do just that, all he needs to do is get Jose Cuevas out of the way and it is a done deal.  Big Mo is alive, little does everyone know, and on his way back to Cleveland to take revenge on all who wronged him and to build a better and stronger Chedda Boyz and take Cleveland back by force if needed.  G-Boy is fresh and new on the scene from New York and heard that Cleveland is wide open and ready for the taking and he is willing to take it by any means necessary.  While these crews are willing to do battle to take the top spot in the drug trade in Cleveland, there is a wild card in the mix that only has eyes for Big Mo.

Hudson has really brought the heat in this final installment of the Chedda series.  Hudson has given us the characters that we needed to complete this series along with some new ones that complement the old ones and they work well with each other.  The story line is strong and keeps you engrossed in the story.  It is hardcore, on the edge and in your face and I loved it!  Kudos to you CJ Hudson, continued success and I look forward to reading more of your work!

Bloody Chedda is available for purchase through (paperback and Kindle) and (paperback and Nook)

A Fantasy of Love by Loretta R. Walls

a fantasy of LoveWhoever said that growing up was easy obviously was never a teenager.  Being a teenager is supposed to be carefree but being in the “in” crowd AND being in love makes life just one big bowl of cherries!

Tiffany Me’Lisa Rivera has everything going for her: she is the head of the popular clique at Maxwell High School in Belle Aires, the captain of the cheerleading squad, has a music career that is heading straight through the roof,  parents that are very wealthy and friends that adore her.  Not to mention a boyfriend that loves her along with everyone else being in love with her too.  Why is it when Tiffany seem to be taking two steps ahead, someone or something tries to knock her three steps back.  They obviously don’t know Tiffany because she is not easily shaken and she will not be knocked down but she ALWAYS has a back up plan, you can believe that!

A Fantasy of Love is a young, fresh coming of age love story that has innocence and trust that we don’t see in love stories where the main characters are adults who have been scarred by life and love lost.  It shows where you can still have trust after being hurt, where being protected by your parents is ok and showing that you are vulnerable but still have power.  Walls draws you into this story with her closeness of her characters and that sibling can be pests but still love each other and protect one another.  This is a feel good story and it would be enjoyed by one and all.  As usual, great work Loretta R. Walls!

A Fantasy of Love is available for purchase through (paperback and Kindle) and (paperback and Nook).

Forgive and Forget by Tramaine Green

forgive and forgetIt is said that you have to forgive a person not for them but for you, so that you can go on with your life.  Sometimes that is easier said than done especially when that person has hurt you to your core but we still do what we have to do to make it through the day.

Jacob and Chardae have been married for ten years and it is evident that they love each other very much.  Just being in each others presence sends electricity through them that cause them to have a hard time keeping their hands off of each other.  When one of them breaks the trust and has an affair will it be easy to go back to that loving relationship that they have had?  Will they be able to forgive and forget or will this be the end of such a loving and caring relationship?

Forgive and Forget gives us a look at real life situations that could happen to any of us but it also gives us an opportunity and an option to fix our problems if we want to.  I like the way the characters interact with each other, no role is overshadowing the next and they mesh well.  Green shows us real fire and desire in a marriage a lot of desire which is not bad, just almost bordering on teenage attraction with the can’t keep their hands off of each other and sometimes it was a little overkill and not needed.  I would have liked to have seen more interaction between Chardae and her cousin Kim but I might be predicting the future.  Overall it was a very good read and as always I love Green’s work and look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Forgive and Forget is available for purchase on on Kindle only.

The Perfect Marriage by Kimberla Lawson Roby

The Perfect MarriageAccording to the dictionary the definition of perfect is:  being entirely without fault or defect, flawless.  Life would be grand if it was like that, and to have a marriage like that is a dream come true, but dreams do sometime come true, right?

Denise and Derrick Shaw have a great life:  they have a strong loving marriage of over sixteen years, a twelve-year old  daughter Mackenzie that is so close to sainthood that she just makes everyone smile at how great she is, they each have great jobs that afford them such a comfortable living that they don’t want for anything, a beautiful five thousand square foot home that they were planning to retire in, what more could a person ask for?  Life as you would know it is perfect in the Shaw household, that is until someone opens that closet door and the skeletons start to fall out that they had tucked neatly away.  Slowly one by one, old wounds open back up and when that happens you need a way to get some of the stress off of you.  It is how you choose to relieve that stress that will decide if you are handling it or just hiding it.

The Perfect Marriage is a great story and I enjoyed every minute of it.  I enjoyed the story line and the drama, the emotions, the highs and the lows of the characters and that is what keeps me coming back to this author.  Roby keeps you engrossed in the story and you can understand why she is a New York Times Bestselling author and NAACP Image Award winning writer, Roby keeps you wanting more and more.  Great job as always Kimberla, looking forward to reading more of your works.

The Perfect Marriage is available on (hardcover and Kindle), (hardcover and Nook) and everywhere books are sold.

Sir, Yes Sir by Mike Warren

Sir yes sirSir, Yes Sir is the third and final installment in this series and Mike Warren does not disappoint.  He brings you the same high-powered energy as the first two novels and makes you smile with anticipation knowing that you are going to get a great read.

Sean Matthews is back and now being stationed in Hawaii.  Sean has taken someone with him that he believes will bring him joy but we have come to know Sean very well and we know his appetite and we KNOW that he can not be satisfied by just one.  Sean gets the chance to go back to Baltimore to take care of some business and while there he is met with many surprises.  Some of them are overwhelming to the point that it seems like he just won’t make it through but we know that Sean is a trooper and can handle anything, or can he?

Sir, Yes Sir is the conclusion to this trilogy and does Warren wrap it up with a bang!  You have twists in this book that you didn’t see coming and it keeps you interested all the way until the end!  The characters both new and old mesh well together and Warren has done a great job with this series.  I have enjoyed reading his work and I look forward to reading more in the future.  Kudos to you Mike Warren!
